A daily look at life on the job by TIME's Lisa Takeuchi Cullen

Weigh in: what should I do with my blog?

My maternity leave is fast encroaching. While I look forward to a break from the deadlines, the commuting and the office-chair-induced butt ache, I am also beset by a conundrum: what to do with the blog? Hit pause till I return to desk duty? Collar a kind colleague to squat in my space? Cease and desist?

I discussed this recently with Josh, the chief pooh-bah of Time.com, and am no closer to a conclusion. Believe me when I say no one at Time.com is staying up nights worrying about this. It's not as though my selected beat is a news-driven one with seismic daily changes that the clicking public demands to know. I mean, it's just work; it's not TV.

Then there's my inexplicably ferocious attachment to this tiny corner of Internet real estate. Blogging is the best part of my job. (You hear me, boss? And you don't even pay me for it.) It's not unfathomable that I keep up the posts, albeit at an even more lackadaisical rate, in between diaper changes. But the thing is: it's a workplace blog. I blog about work. Would you read a Maternity Leave in Progress?

A sample post:

Why doesn't baby poo smell?

So here I am sniffing a tiny diaper. The goo today is greenish. I find it weird that it doesn't stink...

Fascinating. Come on. Fascinating.

So I'm doing what I always do: I'm punting. You tell me. What should we do with WiP during my leave?
